Potash fertilizers

These fertilizers come from potassium rock, a mixture of potassium carbonate and salts. Manufacturing begins with the concentration of potash, followed by processing to obtain a potassium chloride solution. It produces muriate of potash (MOP), potassium nitrate (KN) with nitric acid, and sulphate of potash (SOP) with sulphuric acid.

Another type, ammonium urea nitrate (UAN), is the result of a mixture of ammonium nitrate, urea and water.
